Elisha Cuthbert's career began as a 7-year-old model. She was featured in various magazines and catalogs, and even enjoyed a stint as a foot model. Cuthbert caught the acting bug while appearing in the family film Dancing on the Moon in 1997. That year, she landed a hosting gig on Popular Mechanics for Kids . She held the job for three seasons, traveling the world on assignments.
In the meantime, she kept busy by appearing in 1998's Airspeed with Joe Mantegna, as well as a number of Canadian films like 1998's Nico the Unicorn , and 1999's Who Gets the House? and Time at the Top . That same year, she became a series regular on Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark? .
In 2000, Cuthbert was seen in the made-for-TV movie Mail to the Chief (2000) with Randy Quaid, Believe (2000), and the Canadian TV movie Lucky Girl (2001), for which she won a Gemini Award (Canada's version of the Emmy). But because 24 takes place in one day, she wears the same clothes throughout the entire season. This was great for the first two seasons, in which she wore low-cut, sweaty tank tops. In the third season, however, the writers stuck her in a pantsuit with a hairstyle that is downright unattractive (although the suit does offer some nice cleavage shots).
Thankfully, she's back to looking sexy in The Girl Next Door (2004), where she portrays a porn star.
